Drawing inspiration from the quilting tradition, where worn fabrics and remnants are gathered by a community to make a quilt, I encouraged people -via the Greenbelt website and facebook groups- to join with me in making bunting to festoon the festival site with.
I hosted a couple of 'buns and bunting' days in London, where I rewarded Greenbelters cutting and sewing of bunting triangles with iced buns. Other people -from all over the UK- sent their contribution by post. It was the most successful project of this kind that Greenbelt has done. A marvelous 700 metres of bunting were made in time for this years festival, and I'm planning to build on that over the next year, so that even more Greenbelters can make their contribution to the community's quilt.
