Christmas is coming!

I'll be presenting my silk scarves at an evening designer craft event at the Covent Garden Hotel on  the evening of Wednesday November 25th between 6.30 and 9.30pm

It promises to be an excellent opportunity for you to begin your Christmas shopping and I'd be delighted if you'd include it in your plans.

We'll have a wide range of high quality hand made gifts for the men, women and children in your life, made by London based designers including  Anna, Amma, Alice and myself. We'll also be serving refreshments.

Please book your attendance, this £5 entrance fee will be redeemable on any purchase made on the evening.

let the making begin!

I'm working with a furniture maker, garden designer and audio artist to create a sensory garden for children in Hampton, South-West London. The overall layout was set out by students at Kingston University, with our design team selected to bring it to life; developing a rich, robust and lively detailed design.

My efforts are focused on creating sensory and interactive elements built into a cedar clad wall around the perimeter, dividing the garden from the grounds of a primary school.

I'll be using a wide range of organic and man-made materials to encourage children to explore texture, colour, light and movement.

After several months delay contracts have now been signed so work can begin!

A selection of beautiful photographically printed silks and coupled with soft wools, velvets and cottons to make sumptuous scarves that can be worn by both men and women to brighten the hearts of our soon to be grey and blustery city.
I've opened shops on etsy and folksy, I'd be delighted if you'd consider my scarves, when you go to choose yours.

Greenbelt 09: Tree of Life

CNC-cut ply and pine three dimensional graphic measuring 4.4m tall.

Taking Wilf Whitty's graphic design, and making it real. A collaboration with Gibson, my scenic carpenter brother.

[as usual it was installed in the pouring rain, and after a mild and dry festival was dismantled in pouring rain- joy.]

Greenbelt 09: Buns and Bunting

Drawing inspiration from the quilting tradition, where worn fabrics and remnants are gathered by a community to make a quilt, I encouraged people -via the Greenbelt website and facebook groups- to join with me in making bunting to festoon the festival site with.

I hosted a couple of 'buns and bunting' days in London, where I rewarded Greenbelters cutting and sewing of bunting triangles with iced buns.Other people -from all over the UK- sent their contribution by post. A marvelous 700 metres of bunting were made in time for this years festival, and I'm planning to build on that over the next year, hosting 'buns and bunting' days across the country, so that Greenbelters all over can gather together to make their contribution to the community's quilt.

Greenbelt 09: Venue Signs

I’ve just returned home from Greenbelt – a festival of music, art, faith, love, creativity & justice that takes place every year, of which the last few it’s home has been Cheltenham Racecourse.

I worked to develop the festivals 'vibing' this year, both designing and making elements, and heading up the team of volunteers on site.  One aspect that I focused on this year was the venue signs.

Make interior glass dazzling!

'One of the designers in the Vitrafol network is Saga Arpino, a young designer who specialises in glass art. Her work demonstrates what can be achieved with imagination and the freedom gained from shedding traditional vinyl cut-outs. It's dazzling what Vitrafol print technology can offer!'
